Be it payment service providing giant Mastercard or retail giant CVD Pharmacy, every big name is entering the NFT and metaverse space. As per a recent study conducted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), interest in the Metaverse and virtual or augmented reality (VR/AR) is substantially higher in developing countries than in high-income countries.

The survey’s results were released on May 25 by market research firm Ipsos, demonstrating that the NFT and Metaverse are now widely recognized. Notably, 52% of more than 21,000 adults surveyed across 29 nations are familiar with the concept, and 50% have pleasant perceptions about participating in it in everyday life.

Top five countries that love Metaverse

The study recorded China, India, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia as the top five nations, where more than 60% of respondents reported positive feelings toward the concept.

China had the most positive feelings about using a metaverse on a daily basis, with 78%, followed by India with 75%. The countries with the lowest scores, with less than 33% of respondents favorable about the Metaverse, also had the highest incomes.

Japan ranked the lowest, with only 22% expressing positive feelings, followed by the United Kingdom (26%), Belgium (30%), Canada (30%), Germany (31%), and France (31%).

Surprisingly, the topic was less well-known in high-income countries as well, with below 30% in France, Belgium, and Germany. Turkey had the highest level of familiarity with the Metaverse, at 86%, followed by India (80%), China (73%), and South Korea (71%). With a score of 27%, Poland came in last.

Participants were also surveyed on which aspects of their lives they believe the Metaverse will have the greatest influence. South Africa, China, and India concurred that virtual learning, entertainment, digital socializing, and even applications like remote surgery would have a major influence on society.

The use of NFTs in South Korea is visibly high, with Lee Jae-Myung of the Democratic Party (DP) using NFTs to raise funds for their presidential campaign in January this year, as TheCoinRise reported.
