Adolf Hitler and antisemitic NFTs being actively sold on OpenSea

OpenSea is the biggest NFT marketplace that allows various NFT creators to buy or sell their tokens. Basically, an NFT can be an audio, video, image, or a combination of all three. While there are a number of artistically rich tokens being sold, it has been witnessed that even Adolf Hitler and antisemitic NFTs are being sold on OpenSea.

With the recent explosion of the blockchain industry, NFTs came out to be the most popular application of this technology. While governments are still figuring out the various regulations revolving around blockchain technology, it has been noticed that Adolf Hitler NFTs are being used to spread Hitler’s messages.

Adolf Hitler NFTs glorifying Hitler’s deeds

These Adolf Hitler NFTs have been glorifying the principles that the former Dictator of Germany had spread. There are a number of tokens with the title “Heil Hitler” and “Hitler did nothing wrong” being sold openly. Other Hitler-related digital tokens showcasing swastikas and Hitler’s portraits are also being sold to the highest bidders. 

In a report by VICE, the trading volume of these Hitler-themed NFTs has increased to thousands of USD while the sales have also surpassed thousands of dollars. Cartoons of Hitler’s in various poses have been shared on Twitter and went viral. But, the vehicle doesn’t stop here. 

Ethereum Name Services or ENS reports that certain domain names have become popular related to Hitler, including “hitlerdidnothingwrong.eth” and “hitler.eth.” Furthermore, there are innumerable digital tokens of Adolf Hitler which either support the former Dictator’s actions through his name, portrait, or the swastika. 

Although OpenSea’s terms and conditions state that the marketplace will allow the buying and selling of controversial NFTs, they also state that in case they find any content inappropriate, they will remove such content. They further add,

“We carefully consider the complete situation and all its details in light of our policies before deciding to remove inappropriate assets, listings, smart contracts, and collections when we discover them, or they’re brought to our attention.”
