Customers of Leawood, Kansas-based AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc can now pay for the company’s services using Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Litecoin (LTC), following months of anticipation for such integrations. The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Aron made this revelation on his official Twitter handle, noting that the crypto payments will further complement the company’s existing payment options.
The plans to provide support for digital currencies have been long in the pipeline for AMC Theaters. While the allowance to buy tickets and other merchandise in crypto was just created, the firm started accepting Bitcoin payments for buying gift cards back in June. Following a widely participated poll, as many as 140,000 participants want the company to add support for Dogecoin. Adam said in his tweet that the meme coin which has risen 9,000% in the year-to-date period is the next coin to integrate.
“Big newsflash! As promised, many new ways NOW to pay online at AMC. We proudly now accept: drumroll, please… Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin. Also Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal. Incredibly, they already account for 14% of our total online transactions! Dogecoin next,” Adam said in the tweet.
AMC Theaters Showing Growing Interest in Memecoins
The growth of digital currencies in America is growing at a very fast pace with retail investors in the country growing a strong tolerance for a wide range of crypto assets. Dogecoin and Shiba Inu (SHIB) the two largest and most popular memecoins are amongst the assets that are seeing increasing embrace from these investors, and as such attracting the interest of AMC Theaters.
As reported by TheCoinRise, the AMC Theater boss has reiterated the firm’s plans to add support for Shiba Inu in the near future. There is a robust community backing the Shiba Inu token, and the integration of the memecoin as a payment option can serve as a boost for AMC Theaters at a time where token holders are seeking ways to spend or make transactions with their holdings.
Besides AMC Theaters, a number of American businesses are already accepting crypto payments for their products and services. Amongst the most prominent is the NBA Side, Dallas Mavericks which accepts Dogecoin payments for its merchandise.
