AMC Theatres accepts crypto payments for buying gift cards

AMC Theatres, one of America’s most prominent cinema companies, will now accept crypto payments. The Chief Executive Officer of the company said in a Tweet that gift vouchers could be purchased using Dogecoin and many other crypto tokens. The AMC mobile application, the AMC website, and even physical theaters will now make crypto payments available.

In the midst of this wonderful news, Dogecoin was massively gaining today. Prices have increased by more than 20 percent compared to September. The coin is the 8th coin on the market.

AMC Theatres and BitPay partnership

Users can buy gift vouchers by making payments through cryptocurrencies on the app or the website, but the cap is $200. At present, only users who have the BitPay wallet can make payments because the company does not support other wallets as of now.

The CEO of the company in the Tweet shows that Dogecoin has been given special priority. Adam Aron was Dogecoin’s supporter. In a poll conducted on Twitter by the CEO last month, he asked around 170,000 people if Dogecoin’s AMC Theaters would be allowed to buy movie tickets by the end of 2021.

The survey results showed that Dogecoin received more than 68.1 percent of the votes.

The step taken by AMC Theatres is bold, advanced, and motivating for other companies to do the same. There will be no surprise if one buys a movie ticket using crypto before the year ends.

The AMC cinema, in response to the poll, said that the customers want the company to accept the Dogecoin. The company is now busy in planning on how to do so.

The huge adoption and virality of Dogecoin are not still helping the token as the transaction counts are still incomparable to April. Currently, the DOGE transactions are around 25k, which were around $140k in April.
