Some Argentine legislators are raising their eyebrows over the construction of a bitcoin mega-mining farm by Bitfarms in the country.

Amid the growing concerns however, a resolution has now been presented to the government by a national deputy, Martín Berhongaray. The resolution which was submitted recently, is compelling the government of Argentina to share information about the entire installation process of the facility. As expected, the Argentine government will be able to disclose the necessary information through its representatives from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation STI, Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development ESD, and the economic department of the nation.

Argentine Legislators Eyeing Bitfarms Mega Mining Farm

Bitfarms, a mining giant headquartered in Canada, is building quite the ambitious project, out in Argentina. But the project is already raising serious concerns with Argentine legislators. In this light, a national deputy, Martín Berhongaray introduced a law proposal for the government to explain how this deal came into being and if at all, the company has gotten the approval of the different state institutions previously mentioned.

According to reports, the mining farm will be hosting no less than 55,000 mining machines.  Also, Bitfarms is reportedly finalizing a contract with a private power company in a deal that’ll see it receiving 210 megawatts (MW) of infrastructure capacity at a rate of 2.2 cents per kilowatt-hour.

What the Proposal is Actually Saying

From all indications, the proposal sure looks like it’s aimed at finding out enough information about the energy facility that will be providing power for Bitfarms.  The proposal is also looking to determine the sustainability of this deal into the future. Meanwhile, albeit the construction company has already been identified as PROA, the power company and the location of the mining farm facility remains a total mystery. The only other reports available about the facility is that it’s going to be located in a rural area.

Meanwhile, reasons why Bitfarms is expanding to Argentina might not be far-fetched. It’s a known fact that the region offers affordable energy opportunities, especially in certain parts of the country. Therefore, this has been bringing more and more attention and businesses to the area.
