Barcelona Football Club has collaborated with Ownix to develop its own Non-Fungible Token (NFT) series. The NFTs are based on unique digital assets created from photographs and videos that capture important moments in the Club’s history.
The football club recognizes that the digital realm is changing, and they want to be a pioneer in this new area of creating digital assets. As a result, it is working with an Ethereum-based top marketplace for NFTs. This is a data sharing platform that can’t be changed or tampered with, as stated on the club’s website.
With a heritage of more than 122 years, the collection has amassed an impressive trophy cabinet with 95 domestic and international triumphs, including domestic and European league titles. The objective of the collection is to engage its worldwide audience.
In an interview, Guy Elhanani, the CEO of Ownix, stated that their collection would be open to all Barcelona fans from anywhere in the world as well as anybody else who wanted to participate. He went on to say that they do not limit it to a fan base. Their objective is to bring investors into the market for NFTs not just because they are commercially viable, but also because they enjoy and pride in ownership.
The Ownix marketplace will enable the launch of digital assets during the last week of November.
Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, stated that the club has a huge digital media following of over 400 million people. Because of these occurrences, the team is looking for different ways to connect with its fan base. Joan feels that creating these NFTs allows the club to grow their brand by providing distinct experiences that allow their fans to dream and raise their profiles.
NFTs are quickly becoming widespread in the sports world, according to a recent report by Coinrise. This is not only due to their monetary value, but also because they enable fans and supporters from all over the world to engage with more immersive and personal experiences.
The International Chess Federation announced its plan to launch its own NFT marketplace on Monday. Dapper Labs, Sorare, and Socios have collaborated with various clubs, leagues, and athletes to enter the expanding NFT industry.
