Michael Lewis, a best-selling author, revealed during his May 19 speech at the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami that he is nearly finished writing his book about Sam Bankman-Fried , popularly known as SBF and the his exchange FTX’s demise.
Book Launch Expected in October
“Going Infinite: the Beginnings and Ends of a New Tycoon,” Lewis’s forthcoming book about Bankman-Fried is anticipated to launch in October this year. Although he did not specify a specific publication date, Lewis stated that he expects the book to be available around the time the SBF trial begins in October.
A Completely New Perspective on the Plot
It is interesting to note that Lewis was said to be close to finishing the book just before the well-known implosion of FTX in November 2022. The additional criminal charges against SBF provided a completely new perspective on the background of the story of the former billionaire. Lewis stated:
“I had this conversation with a kind of person I used as a sounding board…and he said, ‘Your problem is you don’t have a third act. You have the first two acts, but you don’t have a third act.’ And I said, ‘That’s absolutely right; I don’t know how to end it.’ A week later, FTX blows up. I was so grateful.”
“It aims to read like a piece of fiction,” he adds by further stating: “If you didn’t know anything about crypto. If you didn’t even know who Sam Bankman-Fried was. You might think, ‘this is just a made-up story.'”
Lewis Knows SBF and His Inner Circle
Notably, Lewis first met SBF at the end of 2021, when a friend asked him to meet the FTX founder and learn more about him. Lewis disclosed at the conference that he had conducted interviews with members of SBF’s inner circle, FTX employees, and American and Bahamas government officials. Furthermore, the FTX pioneer permitted Lewis to meet with him during his home capture in Palo Alto, California.
Meanwhile, as reported by TheCoinRise, the Hollywood Reporter revealed in February that a new documentary is being made about the interaction between Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao and FTX founder and former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.
