BTC wins best performing asset of 2021

Bitcoin (BTC) has beat stocks and other commodities, to become the best performing asset of 2021, as per official data. We are barely 5 days in October, and BTC already sees 15% gains, this clearly outperforming worldwide macro assets. Ultimately, this means that Bitcoin has seen a year-to-date return of just below 50%

BTC Hodlers Up 49%

Despite BTC having a rollercoaster of a year, the digital currency has managed to escape being permanently on the downside. Having experienced a 60% retracement from its highs back in May, the cryptocurrency has now but canceled out all of that retracement. Therefore, Bitcoin is at least 13% ahead of other commodities, and 17% ahead of U.S. micro cap companies, stats show.

Also in comparison with the performance of other investments, the figures are even more encouraging for BTC Hodlers. For instance, European stocks just upped 10.3% year-to-date in the last week.

In line with the reports on NYDIG data set, @Bitcoin Twitter account also commented that it is now up 49.1% year-to-date.

Altcoins Bringing the Heat

While September was particularly not so impressive for Bitcoin, October has seen it return to glory days. And with stocks also predicted to enjoy returns that are above average this month, hopes are quite high that BTC will finish the 4th quarter, quite strongly.

Meanwhile, beyond macro, there are individual success stories that kind of beat Bitcoin in terms of raw returns. Some altcoins have seen what we can almost call freak gains in such a short period of time. An example that quickly comes to mind here is Solana (SOL). Starting out the year at around $1.60, the coin now sits comfortably at an all-time high of $215.
