Coinbase labels several assets as “experimental” to warn users about the risks and to improve transparency

Crypto exchange giant Coinbase has announced that it will label some assets that are either new to the platform users or have a relatively low trading volume, as “experimental,” in an effort to be more transparent and clear to its users.

Founded in 2012, Coinbase, which claims to offer the “safest and easiest platform to buy and sell Bitcoin,” offers more than 150 tradable assets.

The primary goal of the move is to be as transparent as possible with our customers regarding trading risks,” says Ishan Wahi, the company’s Product Manager in the blog post.

“We are introducing a new experimental label on asset pages and a disclosure when executing trades for some assets.”

He went on to add that the fast pace of Coinbase’s offerings expansion makes it crucial for it to add such labels as newly created assets comes with added risks, more order cancellation, and higher price swings.

The customers will be able to notice these labels from now on. However, it would not impact their ability to send, receive, buy, sell, or hold assets on the platform, the announcement clarifies.

It is a new, yet impressive way to warn users about the underlying risks of investing in assets that have lower market capitalization.

Coinbase, partnerships, and expansion

Coinbase aims to “add even more assets and expand” its coverage around the globe in the coming days, the announcement reveals. Recently, Goldman Sachs senior Roger Bartlett, who has worked at the bank since 2005, joined the exchange to embrace the cryptoeconomy.

The exchange platform, which aims to hire over 2,000 people this year, is continuously partnering with major brands. It recently joined hands with the OneRiver for building an exclusive institutional platform.

The biggest crypto exchange in the United States has also integrated the Ledger hardware wallet on its Coinbase Wallet for an extra layer of security.
