Floki Inu (FLOKI), the Elon Musk-inspired meme token, has signed a sponsorship agreement with 1926 founded S.S.C. Napoli, the famous Italian professional football club.

As per the November 23 announcement by the football club, the Floki Inu logo showing the very popular Shiba Inu dog wearing a Viking helmet will appear on the backside of Napoli’s jerseys. It will also be displayed across LED signs around the home stadium of the team for the remainder of the current season.

Floki Inu shared the tweet of the football club giant. Napoli joins the Floki team’s list of associated professional football clubs, which already contains the Kerala Blasters of the Indian Super League and Cádiz of the Spanish LaLiga. In 2021, Floki seems to be following in the footsteps of the top crypto exchange FTX, which has boldly sought out a number of mainstream sporting collaborations.

Floki Inu wants to be the most widely used crypto

Napoli has not stated whether the sponsorship is a multi-year agreement or how much Floki spent on the partnership. The move, according to Floki’s marketing staff, is part of the project’s goal to become the “most well-known and broadly used crypto in the world.”

The Floki Inu team has been working towards a massive marketing push since September. It had stated that it had allocated a dedicated $1.5 million for advertising campaigns. Floki has targeted London by flooding the city with the ads, which, however, turned into a controversial topic coming inside the radar of the U.K.’s advertisement regulator, ASA.

Floki Inu was released in June 2021, and as per the data by Etherscan, there are about 49,461 FLOKI hodlers, with a fully diluted market cap of $1.8 billion. As per CoinGecko, the price of FLOKI has increased by more than 12% in the last 24 hours, to $0.00018840 at the time of publishing, with a trading volume reaching nearly $25.2 million.

Sports, especially the football industry, have already been involved in the crypto world. As TheCoinRise reported, Juventus, being the first-ever football club to be tokenized, and now FC Barcelona and Manchester City are the latest addition to the list.
