Flow blockchain adds Filecoin storage services to improve NFTs decentralization

Flow blockchain has recently announced an official partnership with Filecoin, making the latter become its official storage partner. The partnership is apparently one of many recent moves by the tech firm, as it continues striving to offer decentralized storage for any NFTs minted on the Dapper Lab’s network.

Explaining the partnership in more details, Filecoin has also claimed in its own announcement that the move was a part of efforts in ensuring that both issuers’ and holders’ NFTs are more secure and widely available.

This means that, Flow users can easily mint NFTs, leverage InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) content addressing, and even store their tokens in decentralized storage offered by Filecoin.

Furthermore, one of the partnership efforts also saw Filecoin opening “Next Step Grants” worth $5,000 for each eligible NFT project on Flow that is first eligible, then also integrates with Filecoin’s network or IPFS.

Something is almost certain however, especially as the Flow ecosystem continues to grow. That is the fact that the decentralized storage solution that Filecoin is offering, will in a way help to safeguard NFT metadata and media assets.

Dapper Labs has been doing quite well since launching the Flow Blockchain sometime late last year. In fact, the network is home to very big deals of NFT projects, including CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot. September was even particularly an interesting one for Dapper in many aspects. Firstly, with the firm signing numerous partnerships deals with other big firms, including Google, NFL and the likes. Then there was also the raising of $250 million in funding.

Dapper did explain what it was planning to use the funds for though. The firm said it was planning to use the newly raised capital to fund further licensed NFT projects across music, sports, music and entertainment.
