Joseph Delong, former chief technology officer (CTO) of the DEX or decentralized exchange SushiSwap, posted an article on his experience during his tenure.

On Wednesday, Delong unilaterally resigned saying internal structural issues among DEX developers. While explaining his action of resignation, he outlined lack of organizational skills, poor communication, failure to scale operations, and problematic contributors as the primary reasons contributing.

Delong on Twitter and among blockchain personalities is known and praised for being publically vocal about his experiences and learning from mistakes and failures.

The former CTO accepted that he made the mistake of not informing the Sushi community when issues started emerging among the developers under his management. He also added that he did not sufficiently engage with users to build rapport for the project.

Delong also mentioned using his personal Twitter account to express his opinion over SushiSwap’s developments. The SushiSwap community was divided on this choice. Some individuals applauded him for being honest about his feelings, while others criticized him for showcasing an unprofessional or insensitive attitude toward stakeholders.

In May 2021, DeFi exchange SushiSwap unlocked $800 million of tokens which resulted in broad fear of token price crash.

Delong thanks SushiSwap in the end

Delong was a senior software engineer at ConsenSys before joining SushiSwap as chief technology officer. SushiSwap has evolved to become the 13th largest DEX by trade volume, thanks in part to his leadership and management skills. The protocol, though, has had its share of failures.

The company was recently warned about having a billion-dollar bug by white hackers, though it rejected all the claims.

Delong concluded his experience by stating:

I think the imperfect birth of Sushi has led to additional problems, and in my next project, I will have the capability to structure an organization to empower the contributors. Thank you for allowing me to lead Sushi through this time, and I wish Sushi the best of luck.
