The latest craze hitting the world of entertainment is NFTs, and the WWE is not immune. In conjunction with Fox entertainment, WWE is establishing an NFT marketplace that allows fans to buy, trade, and sell tokens associated with favorite wrestling moments.
The WWE marketplace’s name and release date will be revealed at a later date. Consumers must set up a secure Eluvio digital wallet, which underpins BCL initiatives and in which Fox is also an investor, in order to take part.
Bringing NFTs to World Wrestling Entertainment
Fox Entertainment’s Blockchain Creative Labs is a recent project that was established in the spring. The Masked Singer, which aired on Fox earlier this year, is the subject of an NFT line produced by Blockchain Creative Labs in mid-June. The WWE collectibles will also be included on the Eluvio blockchain.
In June, Fox Entertainment said it had invested $100 million in its new blockchain business. The first NFT creation released by Blockchain Creative Labs is based on a property that isn’t owned by Fox Entertainment. In 2018, WWE extended its media and broadcasting contract with Fox for five years.
Entertainment sector embracing non-fungible tokens
NFTs may be used to help media and entertainment organizations profit from their intellectual property while also keeping fans engaged via a new channel. It appears that Fox is dedicated to diving headfirst into the NFT pool, and it might just mark the start of WWE’s involvement in the sector.
The WWE has a physical trading card game called Topps UFC Fight Night, which is already available. However, the company is currently working on the NFT market and released its first NFTs earlier this year, including The Undertaker. Following up with John Cena NFTs ahead of SummerSlam season last month.
A NFT is a type of cryptocurrency that may be used to represent ownership of an item. Each of these tokens will be linked to photos of past and present WWE Superstars, events like Wrestlemania and SummerSlam, and other notable moments.
