Fox to build a Masked Singer NFT community

It was always a matter of time but surely, some TV studio was always going to be the first to use a major show as a platform to launch a big NFT project. Well, as it turns out, that TV studio is none other than Fox.

The company is launching what it calls the MaskVerse — an NFT collection/game that’s linked to The Masked Singer. Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Fox will be showing interest in doing NFT tie-ins. This time around however, it’s leaning on the community aspect that we’ve seen with other NFT projects as well. And while community launches sometimes might result in great success, other times, it could be an absolute disaster. From the look of things though, it’s surely looking like Fox wants this project to surpass all other collectibles released by other TV shows.

Fox launches NFT collection

Wednesday, October 13 already saw the launching of the first NFT for the show, which was free and also grant a “special access” to the MaskVerse’s Discord. An episode of The Masked Singer has also been released. But after all that, the company is saying that people can buy packs of NFTs to start building collections. By November, Fox will be adding a game where players can vote about things that will be happening to contestants of the game show. There will be a prize for guessing right, and that’s the opportunity to buy even rarer NFT packs.

Fox also confirms that by midway through The Masked Singer’s season, people can be trading or selling their NFTs. According to the company,  this will help people in building complete collections. For instance, getting a full collection of “Common Masks” will provide access to even more exclusive digital items, according to the MaskVerse FAQ. And there is also the potential of getting real-life prizes as well.

For now, the NFTs can only be bought using credit cards or PayPal. However, Fox confirms that soon enough, it will be accepting crypto payments.
