FTX Documentary to Focus on SBF’s Relations with Binance’s CZ

A new documentary is being made that will explore the interaction between the CEO of Binance and the founder and former CEO of FTX.

According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, a new documentary is being made that will explore the interaction between Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the CEO of Binance, and Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder and former CEO of FTX.

The film will look closely at Sam Bankman-Fried’s tense personal connection with Changpeng Zhao, the creator of Binance, one of his toughest industry opponents, who was also one of his close allies.

Hollywood Reporter claims that Unrealistic Ideas, a non-scripted production firm created by American actors Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, and Archie Gips, and media outlet Fortune, are partners in the production.

Stephen Levinson, executive producer at Unrealistic Ideas, said that “the story of SBF and CZ has captivated the imagination of people everywhere.”

“I’m particularly excited about this project as we have exceptional access to dynamic storytellers who were part of the unfolding drama between these two figures,” Levinson added.

Focus on Binance and FTX

The documentary will center on how Zhao, whose family emigrated from China to Canada when he was 12, and Bankman-Fried, who was born into a prestigious academic family with political ties, became two of the most important players in the cryptocurrency field and how their relationship fluctuated between being each other’s opponents and partners.

Alyson Shontell, Fortune Editor-in-Chief, stated:

“The relationship between SBF and CZ is one of the most intriguing and dramatic stories in the cryptocurrency world.”

To present a thorough and comprehensive portrayal of the connection between Bankman-Fried and Zhao, Zhao agreed to participate in the documentary together with other top figures from Binance, as well as officials from FTX and other cryptocurrency firms. Notably, Mark Wahlberg’s non-scripted production firm, Unrealistic Ideas, and Fortune are behind the project.

CZ and SBF previously got into a Twitter battle while arguing for the legitimacy of their respective companies’ behind-the-scenes business activities after the FTX demise. In addition, investor Kevin O’Leary claimed that Binance was to blame for the demise of FTX during a hearing before a US Senate committee.
