Instagram may be offering a very huge amount of money for creators to post videos on its TikTok competitor Reels, per news reports from the Business Insider and TechCrunch. Meanwhile, Instagram already made the announcement of its bonus program for Reels through Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg since July. But the information as of that time was that the company would be paying $1 billion to creators all through 2022.
However, these new reports shed more light on the exact amount each individual creator will be earning for their Reels, including the number of views their posts must gather in order to be eligible for the maximum bonus payout. So far, it seems like $35,000 is the highest amount any single creator can get as an offer. TechCrunch reports about a particular Reddit post where someone was offered as much as $35,000 if their Reels get 58.31 million views in just a month. That’s quite similar to what Business Insider reports was offered to Sam and Cori Werrell to make Reels content for their Instagram followers who are numbering over 283,000.
Meanwhile, some other creators are reportedly getting much more modest offers. For instance, a Maddy Corbin, who has about 52,000 Instagram followers, was reportedly offered up to $1,000, but says she also knows of others being offered even lower amounts than hers — $600 or $800.
In recent times though, it seems like the offers do not directly correspond to the number of followers these creators have anymore. For instance, TechCrunch reports that these bonuses appear to be increasing with time as another creator with only 24,000 Instagram followers was recently offered $8,500 for 9.28 million views.
In a similar pattern, YouTube and Snapchat have also been offering their own incentives to creators. Back in August, YouTube announced it would be paying up to $10,000 monthly for popular videos. Snapchat also announced Spotlight Challenges in October, which also offers various rewards to creators for making videos. Snapchat’s prize pools ranges between $1,000 to $25,000.
In all of this competition, TikTok appears to be totally unbothered by the amount of money being thrown around by its competitors. The platform announced in late September that its monthly active users had surpassed the 1 billion mark.
