Meebits, a Yuga Labs’ owned NFT collection which was initially created by Larva Labs, has released a music album that is also collectible as ERC-1155 NFTs.

The album was created in association with WarpSound, a division of the creative AI music platform Authentic Artists, which on November 3 announced an agreement with Yuga.

The 22 tracks on the album—13 of which have just been released—can be listened to by users on music streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Meebit users can collect the NFTs for free, with only a small gas price.

“Teenage Halloween,” “The Magic Dragon Wagon,” and “Clap for Chumps” are some of the tracks among the others, and the electronic music ranges from slow and sober vibes to more energetic and entertaining sounds.

When the project originally debuted in May 2021, Meebits experienced a peak transaction volume of $127.25 million, according to The Block’s Data Dashboard. The initial launch was carried out by Larva Labs, known for CryptoPunk and CryptoKitties, however on March 11, Yuga Labs acquired the intellectual property.

Following the purchase of Meebits from Larva Labs, Yuga Labs, company that develops NFTs and digital collectibles like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) said:

“This means that we now own the brands, copyright in the art, and other IP rights for both collections, along with 423 CryptoPunks and 1711 Meebits,” and added, “the first thing we’re doing is giving full commercial rights to the NFT holders.”

Music Industry is Exploring Blockchain Options

The music industry is currently experiencing fast growth in the crypto community as a whole. The Sandbox, a metaverse company, teamed with Warner Music Group in January to develop a digital theme park and performance hall centered on music.

Concerts and other live events by WMG-representees will be showcased at LAND in The Sandbox, a Warner Music Group-owned venue.

In December, WMG announced a new cooperation with DressX, a digital fashion platform, in an effort to create virtual “verch” for its fans to wear in the metaverse.
