New York Mayor Eric Adams wants crypto education in schools

Eric Adams, the newly elected New York mayor believes in the need for inclusion of cryptocurrency education in schools’ curricula. He seems to be doubling down his pro-crypto stance.

During an interview on November 7, Adams expressed his thoughts on cryptocurrency saying that it is “a new way of paying for goods and services throughout the entire globe.” He urged local schools to include crypto in their curriculum and let students think in a new way based on the blockchain technology and digital assets. He states:

“We must open our schools to teach blockchain technology, to teach this new way of thinking.”

Adams informally expressed his surprise at the low rate of crypto awareness among his young constituents. The 61 year old democrat said that when he talked about the Blockchain technology and BTC, even young people couldn’t understand it.

He also hinted his plans on encouraging New York businessmen over Bitcoin and other crypto tokens acceptance as a mode of payment. He added that he would study and treat it carefully. He further said that making New York the centre of innovation in each and every field is his primary goal.

People responds to Eric Adams comments

The social media has mixed responses to the comments of Eric Adams. A Twitter user Nimadows said that crypto education must be added to the school curricula adding that the coming investors must have an open mind and enough knowledge before diving into digital assets markets.

On the other hand, many criticised Adam’s points. InnocenceCapit1, a Twitter user said that cryptocurrency is “speculative garbage” and schools should focus on teaching mathematics, science, language, and history.

The new mayor released his major policies which includes transformation of the city into US’ crypto hub.

Eric Adams was elected as the new mayor on November 2. As TheCoinRise reported, the new mayor recently said that he wants to make the city “crypto-friendly.”
