NFT Firm RTFKT’s COO Confirms Losing Assets in Phishing Attack

The most recent non-fungible token (NFT) theft is faced by RTFKT’s COO, Nikhil Gopalani. The executive revealed on Twitter that a phishing assault caused him to lose a sizable amount of digital assets from his wallet.

According to on-chain statistics, the attacker utilized two wallets to steal NFTs totaling more than $173,000 from Gopalani’s wallet. One wallet was discovered to be empty, but the other included items such as 19 CloneX NFTs, 18 RTKFT Space Pods, 17 Loot Pods, 11 CryptoKicks, and 19 RTFKT Animus Eggs.

“Hey Clone X community – I was hacked by a clever Phisher [same phone # as apple ID] & sold all my clone x / some other nfts… Obviously pretty upset and hurt by this and I haven’t really been able to move all day. Hope people who bought my clones love them [being positive].”

Hackers frequently exploit social media sites like Twitter to advertise frauds and lure unsuspecting victims, and this is no longer a secret.

In the cryptocurrency ecosystem, phishing scams have grown, as fraudsters entice consumers to unintentionally give up the passwords to their wallets in order to start an irreversible transaction.

Although there are little details at this time, Gopalani may have given confidential information to the phishers acting as big corporations, according to RTFKT’s CTO Samuel Cardillo.

The executives’ decision to withhold additional information about the entire situation infuriated many members of the community, who criticized their “very corporate” reactions.

Cardillo, however, denied the charge and suggested that a legal inquiry might be in progress, which might be the reason further details were withheld.
