In the wake of Bitcoin (BTC) marking a new all-time high above $67,000 on Wednesday, billionaire venture capitalist and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel has lamented his decision to play safe, instead of buying more Bitcoin.
According to Bloomberg’s report on October 20, Thiel was in Miami, where he spoke about a number of topics in an interview conducted by policy think tank Lincoln Network. There he spoke about issues bordering on cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence, and central banks.
Thiel noted during the interview, that all someone needs to do is to just buy the Bitcoin, but sadly enough, he just might have been under-investing in it.
He also added that the latest rally by Bitcoin is surely going to be a major concern for central banks. In Thiel’s opinion, the historical surge of Bitcoin to its new high, is certainly indicating that global central banks might just be on the verge of complete bankruptcy.
Thiel also speaks about AI
During the interview, Peter Thiel was full of criticism for Artificial Intelligence AI, citing it as a real competition to crypto’s strive for decentralization. He insists that the AI technology, particularly the low-tech, surveillance one, is essentially communist, adding that the technology is likely going to destroy the world.
Thiel remains one of the most vocal advocates of Bitcoin till date. The venture capitalist is well known for calling Bitcoin the hedge that keeps the whole world from falling apart.
PayPal, the company in which Thiel is a co-founder, was founded back in 1998. But over the past year precisely, PayPal has been gradually entering into the crypto space like many others. The company officially announced its plans to support buying and selling of cryptocurrencies sometime last October, and has since rolled out crypto services in the United States and the United Kingdom.
