Philadelphia 76ers launch their first legacy NFT collection

Philadelphia 76ers, a well-known basketball team from Philadelphia metropolitan area, has decided to release their own NFTs in collaboration with the crypto services provider and the Official Jersey Patch Sponsor, Crypto.com. The first 13 drops of the NFT collection were released on the Crypto.com NFT marketplace on the morning of 3rd November. 

According to the announcement, each of these NFT collections will depict a significant moment in Spectrum-era franchise history and will fall on the “Spirit of 76” night. On this night, the team will wear its City Edition uniform. 

The Philadelphia 76ers dropped their first NFT today to commemorate the first game at the Spectrum on 18th October 1967. On that day, the defending champions moved from the Philadelphia Civic Center to the Spectrum and defeated the LA Lakers, 103-87. This historical benchmark was celebrated with today’s release.

Crypto.com, mainly known for the bullish performance shown by its native token, CRO, has struck plenty of deals in recent days. In the new deal with Philadelphia 76ers, a total of 13 drops have been scheduled, each officially licensed, authenticated, and designed by the renowned Brazilian artist Black Madre. 

Philadelphia 76ers’ legacy NFT collection can be divided into three categories, all of which are very rare. These are Original, Banner, and Signature. 

“NFTs are an exciting new collectible space, and one through which we’ll pay homage to great moments in franchise history during the Spectrum era of 76ers basketball,” said Chris Heck, Philadelphia 76ers President of Business Operations. “Through the Legacy NFT Collection, the past and present will converge via one-of-a-kind collectibles.”

Each drop will include one original series followed by 49 mystery packs, i.e., a total of 50 NFT collectibles per drop. These collections will be randomly generated to ensure a fair sale and will be virtually wrapped. The NFTs can be kept in the Crypto.com NFT marketplace or sold on the same platform for higher prices. 

Furthermore, in a gift package, the buyers will get an original piece of the Philadelphia Spectrum court and a game-worn jersey.
