Side-eyeing Chloe meme NFT sells for $74,000

Side-eyeing Chloe meme which sent the internet into a frenzy some 8 years ago, has now been sold as a non-fungible token (NFT). According to BBC reports on Saturday, the NFT sold for about $74,000.

In the meme, we saw a two-year-old girl, Chloe Clem, giving her mother, quite the dissatisfied stare following their surprise trip to Disneyland.

NFTs are digital assets that represents real-world objects like music, art, in-game items, photos, and videos. They are usually stored on a digital ledger (blockchain), which confirms its uniqueness, and can be bought and sold.

Dubai-based Music Company Buys Side-eyeing Chloe Meme as NFT

3F Music —a music production company based out in Dubai, has now bought the ‘side-eyeing Chloe’ NFT though, BBC reports. The company did so, after the Clem family auctioned off the NFT for 25 Ethereum.

So far, 3F Music is yet to comment on the matter, but Chloe’s mother, Katie has confirmed the story. Speaking to the BBC, she said that the entire family watched along from their family home in Utah, as the auction sale happened.

While Katie was full of gratitude for what the NFT eventually sold for, she sure knows it sold for a bit lower than what most meme sales have been like in the past. But according to Katie, the family had so much fun during the entire process and have no regrets whatsoever regarding the money made.

Chloe’s mother had posted the original video from which the NFT of the ‘Side-eyeing Chloe’ meme was taken, on YouTube back in 2013.

In the video, you could see Chloe and her sister Lily, sitter comfortably at the backseat of their parents’ car.  When their parents announced to them that they would be skipping school to go to Disneyland, Lily couldn’t hide her joy. However, Chloe gave a disapproving stare that would later go on to gather over 20 million views.

Katie has now said that, the family is currently planning to save the Ethereum that they got from the NFT sale.
