Sky Mavis’ Axie Infinity to Launch a Decentralized Exchange

Sky Mavis’ Axie Infinity has just revealed its plans to launch a decentralized exchange (dex) on ‘The Scoop’ podcast with host Frank Chaparro. The company well known for its Ethereum-based non-fungible token (NFT) game Axie Infinity, revealed the project plans through Jeff Zirlin, co-founder of the tech firm. Quite recently, Axie Infinity had captured more than $2 billion in sales of NFT, making it the second-largest project in terms of NFT sales, right behind the Opensea marketplace.

Sky Mavis Plans to Launch a Dex Platform

Interestingly, Axie Infinity economy has grown exponentially during the past few months, seeing the Ethereum-based game take in a whopping $2.27 billion in its all-time sales, and just among 687,495 traders. Although there’s an in-game experience part to the project, Axie Infinity also boasts of 2 native tokens. One of the assets, axie infinity (AXS) is up 55.4% in value in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, so far in 2021, the other native token of Axie Infinity, known as smooth love potion (SLP) has also increased by 98.7% against the U.S. dollar.

Explaining further, Zirlin hinted at the broad idea upon which Axie is operating. He said that Axie hopes to introduce a scary but yet fun and exciting blockchain technology to the world, in a way that’s absolutely relatable and even nostalgic.

The Decentralized Exchange

Speaking about the plans to build the dex, Zirlin is positive that the project would flourish because it already has a well established user base that is also large. Zirlin was also asked if the intended dex would have the liquidity pools feature, but he didn’t confirm or outrightly deny the possibility.

Axie Infinity’s dex will support the trading of its native tokens among its user base. And going by the presently available stats, other dex platforms like Curve, Uniswap, Sushiswap, Pancakeswap, and many more see billions of dollars worth of crypto swaps on a regular basis.
