Solana doesn’t want to kill Ethereum, co-founder says

Raj Gokal, the co-founder of Solana Labs, recently said that the project has no desire of killing Ethereum amidst market pundits labelling it as “Ethereum Killer.” Solana is known for its faster transactions and lower fees.

On November 10, co-founder of the venture capital company Placeholder Chris Burniske posted on Twitter: “despite pretty words, L1 knives are fully out. In crypto, generally, people want their biggest bags to win. This will influence almost all communications, so don’t take what you see and hear as truth.” Gokal, in response, emphasized that the people who are working in the crypto world should have the goal to onboard everyone on to Web 3.0. He added that “it doesn’t have to be a fight.”

He further added that “Knives out” clearly implies killing Ethereum, but he believes that it is impossible to kill ETH. He said that it’s beautiful that ETH and BTC are empowering millions of people by creating billions of worth.

Solana’s amazing performance

Solana, at present, is sitting at fifth position with a total market cap of $69 billion and is ahead of its competitor in “killing” ETH, Cardano, which is ranked sixth with a market cap of $67 billion. Interestingly, the biggest altcoin ETH is ranked second with a market cap of around $547 billion.

SOL has been one of the biggest gainers recently by rising more than 600% after July 221. It is up by more than 11,700% over the last year, whereas ETH surged by 930% in the same time frame. SOL is currently trading around $225 amidst the market’s slight retracement.

As TheCoinRise reported recently, Solana secondary NFT’s performance has also been amazing, with sales reaching $500 million in just three months.

While speaking during the recent “Solana Breakpoint 2021” event hosted by Solana Foundation, Gokal said that the ecosystem is exploding this year. He also revealed that 2.2 million NFTs has been minted on the Solana blockchain in three months.
