Third-largest Bitcoin whale grabs 456 BTC units

Thirteen years ago, the Bitcoin blockchain’s genesis block was created by the anonymous Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto. To mark the occasion of the king coin’s birthday, the third-largest BTC whale looks to have returned after the New Year’s vacation to complete the first significant purchase of the year 2022.

According to statistics from BitInfoCharts, the third-largest BTC address added 456 BTC on Tuesday at an average price of $46,363, which is worth around $21 million at today’s Bitcoin price. The movement included an unknown wallet and was initiated from Coinbase.

At the time of this writing, the whale has 120,845.57 BTC, which is worth more than $5.6 billion at current exchange rates. The identity of the holding is still a mystery, but it appears that the whale is making great use of the present price volatility to its advantage. During the last 24 hours, Bitcoin’s price has increased by 0.5%, and it has declined by 3.6% over the last week, with the cryptocurrency currently trading at roughly $46,700.

Meanwhile, the bearish forces that were dragging on the cryptocurrency market at the end of 2021 have continued to weigh on the market during the first week of 2022, with Bitcoin’s price falling below $47,000 on Saturday and continuing to suffer heavy challenges on daily charts.

Bitcoin all set for $100,000?

Despite the fact that Bitcoin is experiencing short-term issues, many investors remain optimistic. Notably, Nexo co-founder Antoni Trenchev recently predicted that the king coin would hit the highly-awaited $100,000 mark by mid-2022.

There have been a ton of predictions by multiple market pundits about Bitcoin’s journey in 2022. Recently, El Salvador president Nayib Bukele also predicted that Bitcoin would reach the $100k mark this year under his six predictions for 2022.
