TikTok to Launch A Creator-Curated NFT Collection

TikTok may have just followed in the steps of other social media platforms as they all continue looking for ways to integrate NFTs into their platforms.

All through this week, attention has been on the NFTs on Twitter. But now, TikTok is also announcing that its own creator-curated NFTs are incoming, and would be powered by Immutable X.

TikTok Announce Launch Date

According to the press release from TikTok, its initial NFT launch action is scheduled to go live on October 6. And it shows a listing of heavyweight creators that will be partnering for the initial launch. Creators listed include Lil Nas X, Grimes, Gary Vaynerchuk, Bella Poarch, and many more.

The October 6 launch will have six 1-of-1 NFTs curated by pairs or trios of creators. Speaking about the launch, Nick Tran, TikTok’s Global Head of Marketing has said that fans can identify with TikTok in an internet-shaping moment like this. He also said that the fans will partake in this moment, while supporting some of their fave creators alongside. Speaking further, Tran revealed that the firm is quite excited to see the engagement between TikTok  community and NFT communities, even as they are about to achieve this cultural milestones.

With regards to this project, TikTok has already launched a partnership site called ‘TikTok Top Moments’ with Immutable X. And Immutable X is set to use it’s Layer-2 Ethereum scaling to offer the NFTs at no gas costs. Immutable X is also claiming 100% carbon neutrality. Also, and in addition to the 1-of-1 NFTs, the site says that there will be a weekly drop of limited edition NFTs up until month ending.

No Signs of Stopping by TikTok

Although, this launch is somehow a limited kind of entry into NFTs even by TikTok’s standards, it’s not the first time the social media giant has shown interest in crypto. This follows after its first daring move into crypto through a partnership with crypto-powered music platform, Audius.
