Tom Brady offers fan BTC in return for his 600th-touchdown-pass ball

Tom Brady, the American football quarterback for Tampa Bay, is paying Bitcoin (BTC) for the ownership of the ball behind his historic 600th pass in Sunday’s game between the Buccaneers and Chicago Bears. 

Brady is the only NFL player to achieve these many touchdown passes. Brady threw his 600th touchdown pass to Mike Evans, who didn’t realize its significance and handed it to his fan, Byron Kennedy. 

The founder of sports memorabilia auction company Goldin Auctions, Ken Goldin, said that the ball’s worth would be anywhere between $500,000 and $900,000. Kennedy decided to give up the ball after a vague promise of meeting with Brady. However, on Monday, the quarterback, Tom Brady, revealed that he had offered Kennedy 1 Bitcoin as gratitude for handing it over easily.

As per the statements by Rick Stroud, Tampa Bay Times reporter, the football team has also agreed to give the fan a helmet with Brady’s Autograph, two signed team jerseys, a jersey signed by the wide receiver, Mike Evans game cleats, season tickets till 2022 along with a $1,000 credit on purchases at the store of the team.

Tom Brady joins hands with FTX

Tom Brady is among many crypto-promoting professional athletes. He had also launched his own NFT platform called Autograph, and he seems to be planning to auction the 600th touchdown ball in the form of an NFT as he has already received the tokens from the crypto exchange giant FTX under an endorsement deal.

Despite TheCoinRise reporting about Bitcoin’s recent All-time High and expert’s speculation of it reaching above $100,000, many online commented that the compensation given to Kennedy is still not close to the value of the historic football.

Investigative reporter David Amelotti commented on the situation by stating, “I would have gone for season tickets for life.”
