Topps, the American collectibles giant that also produces Bazooka chewing gum and candy has announced the launch of the second series 2021 Topps Baseball NFT collection. That is the latest non-fungible token product from Topps following the first series of 2021 dubbed “Inception.” According to the company, this launch is actually Topps’ biggest MLB NFT launch ever.

Towards the ending of August, Topps launched the first series of its 2021 NFT Major League Baseball (MLB) NFT collection called “Inception.” And now, just over a month later, the American collectibles giant is introducing the second series of NFT MLB collectibles via Avalanche’s blockchain protocol. The new NFTs are based on the 2021 Topps Series 2 Baseball physical products that are already sold out and can be obtained via toppsnfts.com.

The company has already started selling standard and premium packs of the 2021 Series 2 Baseball NFT collection since October 4, and the NFT collectibles are made of card rarities ranging from common to legendary. Meanwhile, the vice president and global general manager of Topps Digital Sports & Entertainment, Tobin Lent has said that the MLB NFT series is not only good for NFT veterans, but for newcomers as well.

Lent added that as always, the firm’s MLB NFT products create a fun, easy-to-use collecting experience for many who have collected NFTs before as well as those looking to make their first purchase.

So far, it sure looks like Topps has the market on lock, in terms of Major League Baseball NFT cards and packs. Meanwhile, NBA Top Shot has also introduced non-fungible token collectibles tied to NBA players and their greatest moments. However, Topps is expected to lose its partnership with MLB by 2026 as the league has hinted at a deal with sports apparel maker, Fanatics. So, it is very likely that Fanatics would be picking up the MLB NFT game from that point onwards.
