Twitter appoints a team to research into DApps

Twitter, one of the biggest social media platforms, is not done with cryptocurrencies but is just beginning. After introducing Bitcoin payments on the Twitter platform, the firm has appointed a team to research and learn more about decentralized applications, digital currencies, and blockchain-based technologies. 

Blockchain is a relatively new technology that is still being exploited by many firms and individuals as well. Combining financial and technical theories, the industry is climbing atop the financial ladder. No one is an expert, and everyone can make a guess. This is the reason why Twitter has appointed an entire team to collect details on blockchain technology. 

The news came out through a tweet by Interchain Foundation council member Tess Rinearson who will lead the research team. 

“I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Twitter, to lead a new team focused on crypto, blockchains, and other decentralized technologies—including and going beyond cryptocurrencies,” said Rinearson in the tweet.

According to the following tweets by Rinearson, Twitter indeed “gets” crypto since it integrated Bitcoin tipping and NFTs on the platform but, “there’s so much more to explore here.” The goal of the team is to sneak out the opportunities surrounding these digital assets and find out “what crypto can do for Twitter, as well as what Twitter can do for crypto.”

This initiative will be termed ‘Twitter Crypto,’ which aims at “working closely with the BlueSky team to help shape the future of decentralized social media.” Furthermore, the firm will be actively hiring for roles in engineering and product, looking to be the “center of excellence” for all things blockchain at Twitter.

Also, the firm won’t turn a blind eye to the crypto community, seeking inspiration from these communities on the possibilities regarding ownership and identity. Furthermore, efforts will be made to support the interests of cryptocurrencies among creators and help them use decentralized applications to store their assets and support their communities.
