The National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom (UK) is reportedly broadening its investigative division for digital assets by recruiting four expert investigators to work for its Complex Financial Crime Unit in order to concentrate on crimes involving cryptocurrencies.

UK Agency to Crackdown on Crypto Scams

This news comes just after the announcement that it would be employing two blockchain investigators. The recent job entails coordinating with additional investigators, intelligence fellow investigators, and analytical team members in order to create complicated cases using data and evidence from numerous sources.

Money Launderers are also a Target

Furthermore, the profession involves looking into the highest level of crypto fraud cases in the UK, money laundering, as well as additional blockchain related crime by organized crime centers. The detectives are set to collaborate with a surveillance team and London police.

In order to be eligible for the positions, it will be necessary to possess a level 2 certification from the Professionalising Investigation Programme or another comparable government-issued certification in investigative crime. The income will range between 34,672 and 38,314 pounds ($44,145 to $48,782.92), plus various civil service benefits.

Mindfulness Regarding Money Lost to Crypto

The hiring spree by the NCA is an indication of the fact that the UK government authorized agency is mindful of a rise in the quantity of money lost to cryptocurrency scams in the United Kingdom last year. Crypto fraudsters seized a minimum of $287 million in 2022, according to the United Kingdom’s cybercrime and fraud reporting system.

UK Agency’s NCCU Crypto Cell

Note that earlier this year, the UK’s NCA’s crypto department launched an additional facility dedicated to combating illicit activities and fraudulent individuals linked with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and others. The National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) Crypto Cell is an initiative created by the authorities to increase its monitoring of the UK crypto sector. The law enforcement agency recently announced its intention to engage two blockchain investigators, which is a significant step forward in tackling crypto-related crimes.
