Founded 15 years ago by the Israeli software engineers Avishai Abraham, Giora Kaplan, and Nadav Abrahami, the global SaaS platform Wix offers users with the ability to create both mobile and HTML5 websites without any prior coding experience. On October 12 however, Wix announced in confirmation to Bitpay’s earlier announcement, that it would be implementing the latter’s cryptocurrency payment processing infrastructure. And according to Wix, this move will see that users can go for it as an alternative payment option on the Wix e-commerce platform.
Wix Merchant users are not limited to accepting only bitcoin cash (BCH), ethereum (ETH), bitcoin (BTC), dogecoin (DOGE), wrapped bitcoin (WBTC), XRP (in some certain jurisdictions), and litecoin (LTC) though. They will also be accepting up to 5 different stablecoins including DAI, GUSD, USDC, BUSD, and USDP.
According to metrics, Wix currently makes about $1 billion in revenue through its product services like the website builder, web hosting, and business management services.
CEO of Bitpay, Stephen Pair applauded the integration, saying it’s another step in improving the already established and booming cryptocurrency mainstream. He also added that businesses can now market more quickly, and capture improved sales following their exposure to the massive trillion-dollar cryptocurrency marketplace.
Speaking about the partnership, Omer Shatzky, head of billing and payments department at the Saas firm Wix says they are not done yet. He said the time hopes to continue integrating with other innovative payment partners to offer Wix merchants a very wide array of payment options to give to their customers.
