Yuga Labs, which is the developer of the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT has tapped Spencer Tucker to occupy this position and fulfill the obligations attached to the office. Tucker will oversee all of the company’s gaming initiatives as well as the ‘Otherside’ metaverse projects.
CEO of Yuga Labs Nicole Muniz confirmed that they were excitedly sipping from Tucker’s well of industry experience.
“Spencer brings a passion for and deep knowledge of gaming and shares our vision for the Otherside metaverse. Yuga today is known most prominently for being the home of Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, and Meebits, but Yuga is more than that,” Muniz said, adding, “Gaming is one of our main focus areas. We are uniquely situated to revolutionize the way we all think about web3 gaming through core principles such as ownership, utility, community, and storytelling.”
Experiences Spencer Will Bring to Yuga Labs
Spencer Tucker has amassed almost twenty years of experience in the gaming industry. According to his LinkedIn profile which he has updated to include his new position as CGO, his last position was as the President of the Games department at Scopely, a mobile-first video game developer.
Before he held the position of president, Tucker was the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Product, Monetization, and Analytics in the same form for almost two and a half years. Tucker also worked as SVP of Product at free-to-play mobile game company Gree International Entertainment Inc.
At another time, he worked at Aeria Games and Entertainment as the Executive Producer.
Over the years, he has made a name for himself in game development and design, Web3.0, user-generated content (UGC), and creative community development.
Speaking of his new appointment, Tucker expressed his excitement to join the Yuga Labs team, “I am beyond excited to join the Yuga Labs team and to continue building toward the new era of interoperability and community-empowered growth in the Otherside metaverse.”
Meanwhile, it has been rumored that Yuga Labs plans to launch a new NFT collection tagged ‘Mecha Apes’.
