CZ’s Giggle Academy Pulls In Over $1M in Donations: Fueled by a Memecoin

Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s education initiative, Giggle Academy, has raised more than a million dollars in less than 12 hours, powered by a surprising source: a viral memecoin. 

The project’s public donation wallet showed over 1,311 BNB—worth roughly $1.3 million—just half a day after opening for contributions on Sunday, according to blockchain data from BscScan.

Much of this rapid fundraising came through a newly created token called Giggle, which directs a portion of its trading fees to Giggle Academy in the form of BNB. This mechanism lets the community contribute continuously without creating selling pressure on the token itself, offering a creative twist to the typical donation model and drawing heavy attention across the crypto space.

Giggle Memecoin-Driven Funding Frenzy

The Giggle Fund, which launched the token, has been the primary driver of the donations. DEX Screener data shows a remarkable 470% increase in its transaction count over the last 24 hours, pushing daily trading volume to around $2.8 million. 

Of nearly 10,000 total transfers to the academy, roughly 967 originated from the Giggle Fund alone. This steady stream of fee-generated donations has allowed the project to amass funding at an extraordinary pace, creating buzz among both crypto traders and education advocates.

CZ addressed questions on X about whether Giggle Academy would accept direct token contributions. He explained that any memecoin-related donations would eventually be converted or sold for major cryptocurrencies, noting, “We appreciate the donations, but please don’t complain about the selling pressure later.” 

However, the original inquirer, an X user known as RUNE, clarified that the Giggle token itself doesn’t require selling to fund donations because its fee structure automatically delivers BNB, ensuring market stability while supporting the academy.

Ambitious Plans for Global Education

Giggle Academy is designed to provide free education for children from kindergarten through grade 12, with a focus on both traditional and modern subjects. Its concept paper outlines lessons in math, science, reading, and writing, alongside non-traditional courses such as finance, negotiation, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. 

To maintain a neutral, inclusive curriculum, the academy plans to avoid teaching history and religion, which it says carry “too much potential debate on a global platform.”

The project intends to use the donated funds for community building, ecosystem development, creator incentives, and platform promotion. CZ has previously set a goal of reaching 100 million to 1 billion students worldwide, emphasizing accessibility for children in developing nations. 

With an innovative funding model and strong early support, Giggle Academy is positioning itself as a unique intersection of cryptocurrency innovation and global educational outreach.
