Donald Trump to ‘Never Allow’ a CBDC in the US

Billionaire and former United States president Donald Trump has stated that he will “never allow” the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the country during a campaign speech in Portsmouth, a city in New Hampshire.

The 2024 presidential candidate has boldly said that he will never let the Federal Reserve create a digital dollar, adding:

“I will never allow the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency.”

Donald Trump vowed during a campaign speech on January 17, “Tonight I’m making another promise to protect Americans from government tyranny.”

“This [CBDC] would be a dangerous threat to freedom, and I will stop it from coming to America,” Donald Trump said.

The billionaire businessman’s promise received huge applause from the New Hampshire crowd as he added, “I didn’t know you know so much … New Hampshire, very smart people,” while continuing to explain:

“Such a currency would give a federal government, our federal government, absolute control over your money […] they could take your money and you wouldn’t even know it was gone.”

A similar promise was made by Florida governor and Republican candidate Ron DeSantis. He said that he would “nix” CBDCs if elected president.
