HIVE Digital’s Bitcoin Reserves Jump 263%, Here’s Why

HIVE Digital Technologies, a Canadian crypto mining company, has recorded a tremendous surge in its Bitcoin reserve, which has grown 263% yearly.

According to its latest Q3 FY2025 financial report, the company generated $29.2 million in revenue, driven by Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing (HPC) services.

HIVE Digital Bitcoin Reserve Hit New High

During the quarter, HIVE mined 322 BTC, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 2,805 BTC, valued at approximately $260 million. This marks a major milestone, with executive chairman Frank Holmes calling it a “record” achievement.

“We ended calendar year 2024 with a record Bitcoin HODL of 2,805 Bitcoin, valued at over $260 million. This represents a 263% year-over-year increase from $72 million of Bitcoin on our balance sheet at the end of December 2023,” said Frank Holmes, executive chairman of HIVE Digital.

Meanwhile, HIVE’s HPC division contributed $2.5 million in revenue, pushing its annualized run rate to $10 million. This segment continues to grow, providing an additional revenue stream alongside Bitcoin mining.

Financial Comeback and Expansion Plans

Incredibly, HIVE’s operating margins stood at $6.1 million, and the company returned to profitability with a net income of $1.3 million, a major turnaround from the $7 million loss in the same quarter last year.

While discussing the reasons for the recent comeback, the company credits its cost-conscious strategy for helping it navigate market challenges and stay profitable.

Presently, HIVE is expanding its operations. In January, the company announced a multi-million-dollar deal to acquire a 200 MW mining facility in Paraguay. The new site, Yguazú, will be developed in two phases.

The first phase, already 80% complete, is set to go live by Q2, while the second phase is expected by August. Once fully operational, they will add 12.5 EH/s to HIVE’s mining power.

Aiming for More Growth

Beyond the Bitcoin reserve outlook, fluctuating prices, and growing competition among miners, HIVE is focused on scaling up efficiently.

The expansion of Paraguay is a key step toward reaching 25 EH/s by September, strengthening the country’s position in the crypto-mining industry.

Meanwhile, HIVE Digital Technologies announced in January that it will relocate its headquarters to Texas from Vancouver, Canada. The move comes amid growing positivity about a more Bitcoin-friendly regulatory environment under Trump, the 47th President of America.
