Soneium and Plume Network in Partnership to Enhance RWA

On Wednesday, Sony’s Ethereum layer-2 blockchain Soneium and Plume Network announced a new collaboration to allow users to stake Real-world Assets (RWAs) and earn yield in return. This integration provides Soneium’s users with seamless exposure and access to yield products backed by assets.

Soneium Joins Plume’s RWAfi Infrastructure 

The company stated in a statement that “with the integration of SkyLink, Plume’s native interoperability layer that allows real-world asset value and yield to be streamed cross-chain in a secure manner, Soneium joins Plume’s RWAfi infrastructure and brings real-world assets to the chain.” 

This strategic partnership will give Soneium users access to asset-backed yield products, such as yield from tokenized U.S. treasuries and private credit directly from the Plume chain. 

Chris Yin, Plume’s CEO, acknowledged the deal, citing that it is a combined strategy to accelerate previously inaccessible yield opportunities.

What the Future Holds For RWAfi

Yin pointed out that the future of RWAfi transcends beyond assets living on a single chain. He says it also facilitates the seamless flow of actual yield to users’ locations. 

It is worth noting that Soneium had earlier inked a deal with Moca Network, one of Plume’s partners. Their partnership aimed to expand into digital identity, anime like Solo Leveling, and gaming experiences. 

Alongside RWAs, Soneium is also associated with other forms of digital assets, such as Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) and stablecoins.

Soneium Deals in NFTs and Stablecoins 

About eight months ago, USDC issuer Circle announced a pivotal partnership with Sony Block Solutions Labs to expand the adoption of its stablecoin. 

The partnership involved integrating Circle’s Bridged USDC Standard into Soneium and positioning USDC as one of the key tokens for transactions within the Soneium ecosystem. 

According to Circle, “this marks a significant milestone to set the stage for a new era of creativity in the Web3 space.”

This year, the L2 blockchain launched a collection of music-inclined digital collectibles. One of its latest works is a brewing partnership with messaging giant LINE. They plan to integrate the messaging firm’s mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem. Such developments are likely to spring up and trigger a gradual expansion of the blockchain.
