Tether has announced the launch of a new stablecoin called USA₮. The token will be regulated in the United States and backed by the U.S. dollar. At the same time, the company named Bo Hines as the future Chief Executive Officer of Tether USA₮. The move signals a push to bring the dollar further into digital markets under stronger oversight.

USA₮ Built for the U.S. Market

The new stablecoin is being created to work within American rules. Tether said USA₮ will follow the GENIUS Act, the new law passed to guide stablecoin issuers in the country. The token will be issued by Anchorage Digital, a federally regulated crypto bank. Cantor Fitzgerald will serve as the reserve custodian, making sure the dollar assets are safe.

According to the official statement, USA₮ will also use Hadron, a platform built by Tether for tokenizing real-world assets. The company explained that this setup is meant to give businesses and institutions a safe digital version of the dollar. By being fully regulated, USA₮ is expected to set a new standard for how stablecoins operate in the U.S.

Tether’s Reach Around the World

Tether is already the largest player in the stablecoin market. Its USD₮ token has grown into the backbone of digital payments, with a market value of more than $169 billion. Daily use of USD₮ is higher than that of many leading credit card and money transfer companies. Almost 500 million people around the world use it today, mostly in places where banking is expensive or not available.

The company has also grown into one of the biggest buyers of U.S. Treasuries. Reports show Tether now ranks 18th among global holders, ahead of countries such as Germany and South Korea.

In 2024, the company posted more than $13 billion in profit and expects to keep that pace in 2025. This financial strength supports its push to expand with USA₮. Meanwhile, in another remarkable update on Stablecoin, Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan says U.S. banks should improve customer rewards rather than fault the asset for pressure on profits.

Bo Hines to Head Tether USA₮

Furthermore, Bo Hines will take charge of the new U.S.-regulated arm. Last month, Tether named him as Strategic Advisor to support its U.S.-regulated stablecoin plans under the GENIUS Act.

He is known for his work as Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council and also for his background in law and business. Tether said his mix of experience will help guide USA₮ under American rules from the very start.

Hines said he is honored to lead the project and wants USA₮ to be trusted for its openness and reliability. Tether leaders added that launching USA₮ under U.S. leadership shows their long-term commitment to the dollar in the digital age.
