Swiss luxury watchmaker Franck Muller has recently released a new watch inspired by the Solana (SOL) network. This limited-edition timepiece links directly to a Solana wallet through a unique QR code on the watch. While it combines luxury and blockchain technology, it also raises safety concerns.

Franck Muller’s Phygital Item Connects to Solana Wallet

Franck Muller’s new watch is designed for people who love fashion and crypto. Each watch has a unique QR code that connects to the buyer’s Solana wallet. According to the company, only 1,111 pieces of this luxury watch were released. 

Each one costs 20,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to $24,300. Franck Muller called this watch a “phygital” item, meaning it blends physical and digital worlds. It shows ownership, identity, and interest in Web3. 

However, many have expressed concern about this innovation, arguing that wearing such a watch in public may not be a good idea.

Crypto Crimes Are on the Rise

In one case, the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat, CEO of the crypto company Paymium, were nearly kidnapped in broad daylight. The incident, which was caught on video, ended without injury. 

However, another case in the same city was more severe. The father of a crypto millionaire was kidnapped and had a finger cut off before being rescued. Earlier this year, David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, and his wife were abducted from their home. 

The police later rescued them, and the ransom demanded was also retrieved from the abductors. However, the incident had left the victim in deep shock. These cases are part of a troubling trend that is ongoing in every part of the world.
