Trump’s Crypto Dinner Slammed by Attendee Over Food and Speech: “I Left Hungry”

A lavish dinner hosted by Donald Trump for top holders of the TRUMP memecoin has drawn criticism—not for its politics, but for its subpar food and a less-than-inspiring speech. TikTok personality and memecoin investor Nicholas Pinto, who spent nearly $300,000 worth of TRUMP tokens to earn his seat at the May 22 dinner, left unimpressed and still hungry.

Describing the three-course meal served at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, Pinto told WIRED on May 23 that the food was “the worst” he’s ever eaten at any Trump property. “Everyone at my table was saying the food was some of the worst food that they ever had,” he said. “I was hoping for either Big Macs or pizza. That would have been better.”

“Walmart Steak” and Missed Expectations

Attendees, who had each spent millions in TRUMP tokens to gain access, were served a “Trump organic field green salad,” followed by filet mignon and pan-seared halibut with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. Dessert consisted of a lava cake. But Pinto, along with others quoted in WIRED, found the food “OK, but not top-class.”

“The only good thing was bread and butter,” Pinto added. He labeled the filet mignon “trash” in a conversation with Fortune, comparing it to “Walmart steak.” Despite the exclusive nature of the dinner, the culinary experience seemed to fall short of the luxury the guests expected.

The dinner had attracted a global crowd, with Trump reportedly inviting the top 220 holders of his official TRUMP memecoin. However, the event’s lack of warmth and hospitality didn’t go unnoticed. Pinto also criticized Trump for delivering a brief speech and promptly leaving, skipping the expected distribution of commemorative watches to his loyal crypto backers.

Dinner Speech Falls Flat

The president’s short address was another point of contention. Videos from the event show Trump reading from a script, declaring crypto “may be something special,” but offering little substance. Pinto dismissed the remarks as “pretty much like bullshit.”

In the wake of the event, 35 Democratic lawmakers have urged the Department of Justice to investigate the dinner, citing concerns over potential violations of the foreign emoluments clause.

Given that attendees came from around the world, lawmakers question whether Trump is improperly receiving foreign gifts without Congressional approval.
