Block’s subsidiary Spiral brings Bitcoin Lightning Development Kit

The crypto arm of Square (recently rebranded to Block), Spiral, has displayed its Lightning Development Kit (LDK), which promises to boost the Bitcoin network.

Jack Dorsey’s Block’s subsidiary Spiral, focused on Bitcoin development, posted a video on Tuesday showcasing the features and capabilities of the Bitcoin Lighting and Lightning Development Kit or LDK. 

LDK is developed to enable developers to plug their applications into the network through mobile devices and point of sale terminals. It supports native API using C, Java, Kotlin, Swift, and Rust coding languages. This gives developers an opportunity to personalize their wallet apps for their customers in the language of their own choice, without the need for separate Bitcoin and LN wallets.

Jack Dorsey appears in the video interacting as a puppet with store clerks and owners by paying for their services using Lightning Network (LN). Dorsey uses his mobile wallet to pay for a movie ticket and nose piercing. The video clip periodically cuts to the Spiral team explaining the pros of Bitcoin and LN.

In the video clip, Jack Dorsey, the former Twitter CEO, seemingly explained that the LDK is a program that makes the life of developers easier by helping them build a wallet.

Spiral also brings Bitcoin development kit 

Spiral has been working on the development of Bitcoin wallet solutions since it was founded back in 2019. Along with LDK, the company is also working on the Bitcoin development kit to enable users with cross-platform mobile wallet transactions.

Lightening is a layer two Bitcoin scaling solution, and Haley Berkoe, the project manager, states, “turns BTC into an actual payment system.”

Spiral’s release of the product comes at a fortunate time for customers as Lightning Network nodes are at their peak. The data from Bitcoin Visuals show that there are around 18,833 nodes with active channels on the Lightning Network.
