Cash App Creator Stabbed to Death: Details

Bob Lee, the creator of Cash App, died during a stabbing incident in San Francisco. On Tuesday, April 4, the news of Lee’s demise was made official.

The CEO of the bitcoin wallet business Abra, Bill Barhydt, tweeted about Lee’s demise on April 5. Barhydt announced the killing by stating that he “was killed in SF early today.” He also sent an article from a regional newspaper that mentioned the Cash App creator’s passing but did not identify him.

According to a notification from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) dated April 4, officers responded to a stabbing incident at around 2:35 a.m. local time and discovered a “43-year-old adult male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds.” It further reads: 

“Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries.“

According to the SFPD, a homicide investigation is ongoing in regards to Lee’s death. No one has been arrested, therefore anyone with information is requested to get in touch with them.

On April 5, former fighter of Ultimate Fighting Championship, Jake Shields tweeted about the murder of a “good friend.”  Later, after Lee’s identity was discovered, he expressed his hope that his “extremely high profile” status “will at least bring attention to these problems.”

In addition, Jack Dorsey further announced Lee’s passing on Nostr, saying: “It’s real. Getting calls. Heartbreaking,”

Throughout the years, sales of Bitcoin have reached several billion dollars through Jack Dorsey’s Block Inc., the parent company of the Cash App. The amount of money made through Bitcoin (BTC) in the fourth quarter exceeded predictions. The Cash App subsidiary of the US multinational corporation recently revealed that up to $1.83 billion in Bitcoin was sold in Q4.
