Emirates Airline, one of the world’s largest commercial airlines has announced it will launch Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and metaverse related experiences for its customers and employees. According to the company, the move is in line with its reputation for its innovative products and customer-centric services, and the new pursuit will feature both collectibles and utility-based NFT products.

While the Dubai-based company did not mention it is partnering with any of the legacy NFT or Web3.0 companies to bring the new experiences to life, it confirmed that the first set of products is currently being developed and will be unveiled in the next couple of months.

“Dubai and the UAE are blazing the way in the digital economy, having a clear vision supported by practical policies and regulatory frameworks in areas such as virtual assets, artificial intelligence, and data protection,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman, and Chief Executive, Emirates airline and Group.

“Emirates has always embraced advanced technologies to improve our business processes, enhance our customer offering, and enrich our employees’ skills and experiences. We are excited about the opportunities in the digital space of the future and are committing a significant investment in financial and resourcing terms, to develop products and services using advanced technologies that will deliver on revenue, brand experience, and business efficiencies.”

Besides the proposed NFT and metaverse-related product it is working on, Emirates Airlines is also set to repurpose its Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

This remodeling will help pitch the Pavilion as a hub for more innovative technologies that will further help align the Emirates Airlines with the broader “Dubai and the UAE’s strong advancements in building its digital economy, and initiatives relating to virtual assets, artificial intelligence, and the latest technologies in the business environment and for everyday consumer services.”

NFT Technology Embraced by More Airline Beyond Emirates

It is not surprising that more global brands are making a dive into the metaverse world as innovators see a point of intersection between these emerging technologies and how they can impact various industries. Airline operators are particularly excited with respect to the potential of NFT technology.

As reported earlier by TheCoinRise, blockchain startup TravelX and Spanish airline giant, Air Europa have collaborated to launch the world’s first NFT flight ticket series dubbed “NFTickets.”

Per the report, the acquisitions of these NFTickets will grant a number of exclusive benefits to the holders including access to a special Air Europa flight to Miami Beach this November 29th, 2022.
