ETC Community Twitter Account Now Used by Ergo Platform

Not by choice, but borne out of a feud between a crypto player and a community, the Ethereum Classic (ETC) Twitter account has been converted to that of the Ergo platform, a new crypto protocol for the next-generation smart contract projects.

This automatically moves the over 600,000 followers and 8000 tweets on the ETC Twitter account to the Ergo community.

The 670,000 followers that the ETC community had developed on Twitter since it was established six years ago found themselves confused about what had happened.

It all started last year when the ETC community rejected a proposal put forward by Input Output HK, a startup co-founded by Charles Hoskinson which is also in charge of the Cardano protocol.

The proposal had requested the implementation of 20% in protocol treasury but was outrightly rejected. Meanwhile, Hoskinson was the creator of the ETC community Twitter account.

The rejection of his proposal created animosity between Hoskinson and the protocol. In return, he and his IOHK team withdrew their support from the ETC protocol. Since then, he has refused to hand over the account to the protocol nor discuss the sales of the account. This has caused a ruckus and made Bob Summerwill of ETC intervene in the matter.

Charles Hoskinson Calls it Even

Cardano boss Charles Hoskinson and Executive Director of the ETC Cooperative Bob Summerwill were seen having a showdown on Twitter for a few weeks which did not end well. Previously, Summerwill had politely asked that Hoskinson return the account to which he responded via a tweet saying it was his account.

In the past, Hoskinson referred to the ETC project as a dead project. To that end, Summerwill blurted on Twitter again, this time around requesting that Hoskin stop impeding the ETC ecosystem seeing that he regards it as a dead project.

Both members of the ETC community and the Ergo platform have expressed their displeasure concerning the actions displayed by Hoskinson.

Without wasting much time and while waiting to see if Hoskinson will have a change of heart, the ETC community has created another Twitter account. So far, it has not been able to reach its former number of followers but currently has a growing number of over 600 followers.
