Fantom Foundation technical advisor and Year.finance founder Andre Cronje had recently left the DeFi space after deactivating his Twitter account. His colleague Anton Nell revealed this Sunday through a tweet that he and Cronje are leaving the space altogether.

The news spread like wildfire resulting in panic among investors who were concerned about the fate of around 25 DApps and services they were operating at the time.
In the now-deleted article, Media outlet Rekt.news alleged the following:
“Fantom, Solidly, SpookySwap, Abracadabra, Geist: multiple projects all entwined into a system designed to extract maximum value for a small set of insiders who are now steadily exiting the stage.”
No ”termination” happened
Cronje and Nell were technical adviser and senior solutions architect of the layer-1 blockchain Fantom Foundation, respectively. On Friday, it published a statement on alleged “factual inaccuracies,” “misinformation,” and “debunked claims” from the Rekt piece.
Fantom stated:
“Andre and Anton did not ‘terminate’ 25 projects. Instead, any involvement (such as user interface) in these projects was to be handed over to the existing teams, many of whom had been developing and running independently.”

Furthermore, the Fantom Foundation stated that neither Cronje nor Nell were core developers at Fantom and that the entity was not involved in the development of any of the 25 projects in question (including, most significantly, Yearn.finance). Notably, the total value locked (TVL) on Fantom has dropped to $8.27 billion from $11.26 billion on Sunday, the day of the announcement, presumably due to the pair’s departure. Since its creation, the blockchain has executed over 200 million transactions and has over 2 million active wallets.
