Crypto analytics and business intelligence firm Flipside Crypto has tapped Daphne Kwon, a media veteran, as head of its DAO initiatives.
Building on the firm’s success in summoning MetricsDAO, Kwon will be responsible for scaling and expanding Flipside Crypto’s DAO strategy. She’ll resume her role effectively.
Before her new role as General Manager, Kwon was the Chief Strategy officer at Meredith Corporation, a publicly traded media conglomerate where she helped expand the firm’s offerings. Kwon has also served in various leadership roles in established media brands including Betaworks Studio, Goop, and Oxygen Media.
Kwon, a graduate of Harvard business school has appeared on several industry award lists for her role in the space. Seeing that most of her experience has come from the media front, Kwon describes her jump from media to the blockchain as ‘hardly linear’.
Speaking about her employment, Kwon said the appointment puts her in the position to shape the DAO space and impact the future of organizations.
Dave Balter, CEO of Flipside Crypto describes Kwon as a proven leader whose leadership skills can help shape and drive technological adoption.
He is confident Kwon will fuel new thinking and scale the growth of its DAO initiative and the ecosystem at large. The announcement follows Flipside Crypto’s $50 million Series A fundraise in April. The round brought the intelligence firm’s valuation to $350 million.
The funds from the round led by Republic Capital were dedicated to improving its workforce as well as scaling its abilities to conduct more bounties to hundreds of thousands.
Established in 2017, Flipside Crypto is a Boston – based analytics platform where upcoming analysts learn and solve data challenges in exchange for a bounty. The firm has paid out over $2 million in bounties in 2021.
