La Liga, the leading division of Spanish soccer, is rumored to have teamed up with digital art platform StadioPlus to enter the Decentraland Metaverse.

A recent report claims that the move attempts to attract Generation Z, who are among the most active users of the Metaverse. Those who were born between 1997 and 2012 may get more interested in Spanish soccer as they observe La Liga’s progress in Decentraland’s Vegas City neighborhood.

The league will develop land parcels (a digital party town part of the virtual reality platform) in the Vegas City neighborhood during the course of the agreement.

La Liga aims to outperform its rivals

Stephen Ibbotson, the head of franchises and licensing for La Liga, commented on the new partnership by stating that  the organization had looked for methods to innovate and outperform competing championships to provide the finest possible experience for fans both on and off the field. He added:

“This licensing agreement will allow us to reach a new and significant audience, like that of Decentraland.”

StadioPlus will provide assistance and secure the rights of La Liga’s intellectual and industrial property for usage in the Metaverse for commercial use. The CEO and co-founder of the digital art platform Jon Fatelevich stated that his company aims “to be the bridge between the sports industry and the future.” He added:

“We are delighted to have reached this agreement with La Liga, with whom we have been working together for many months on the development and integration of the competition in Decentraland, and we are confident that we will provide a great experience for soccer fans and Web 3 fans alike.”

It is important to note that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, the two most successful soccer teams in Spain, have already joined the movement, as TheCoinRise reported. The furious rivals shook hands and submitted a combined Metaverse trademark application a month ago. They are going to offer their followers products like cryptocurrency transaction management software and virtual reality gaming.
