VISA aims to support digital artists, set to launch NFT program

VISA is a dominant financial corporation that has been around for years. With the popularity of cryptocurrencies and NFTs blowing off the roof, the firm is launching a new NFT program.

The aim of this program is to support the growing number of digital artists by providing them with a chance to join the NFT space. This is an incredible feat and to accomplish this, VISA has partnered with Major League Baseball player Micah Johnson.

The basketball player has now turned into an NFT artist and recently sold one of his arts for 1 million USD in just under a minute. In a press release, VISA confirmed that this new NFT program will help new artists get into the NFT frenzy.

VISA to adopt an application process to select artists

These digital artists that will be a part of the program will have to grow through an application process. VISA will pick up the best applications to form a small group of selected candidates.

These digital artists will be given the chance to learn more about NFTs and blockchain-based assets.

In a Tweet by Cuy Sheffield, the Head of Crypto for VISA, he wrote

“New technologies emerging in the crypto ecosystem, like NFTs, have the potential to lower the barrier to entry for digital creators across the world to build their own small businesses.”

Micah Johnson thanked the NFT community

On the other hand, in another Tweet, Micah Johnson said that when the world turned its back on his art, it was the NFT industry that welcomed him with open arms.

“When I retired from baseball in 2018, I was terrified. I had no place to sell my work and no work experience. The #NFT community opened their arms and showed me what was possible and that love is something that will always stick with me.”

The VISA program will help digital creators sell their NFTs with great ease and give the traction that these creators need.

While VISA enters the NFT marketplace, another competition has already signup up 1.1 million people for the marketplace, i.e., Coinbase marketplace.
