Convicted Scammer, Anna Sorokin Announces Her Debut into NFTs

Convicted socialite, Anna Sorokin is the latest personality to join the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) bandwagon as she confirmed she would be launching a collection. As reported by NBC News, the NFT collection will be called “Reinventing Anna” and holders will have exclusive access to Anna amongst other perks.

Anna Delvey, as she is also known, claimed to be a German heiress with over $60 million in inheritance. With this massive phony fund, Anna was able to defraud banks, businesses, and even her friends for hundreds of thousands of dollars, an act that eventually landed her in prison. 

She was the main subject of the Netflix hit series, Inventing Anna, a movie that has largely garnered her more fan base around the world. She claimed the move to launch the NFT collection is her way of getting past the “Scammer Persona” that she is now known for.

“I’m trying to move away from this like, quote unquote scammer persona,” Sorokin, who is still in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, said from the Orange County Correctional Facility in upstate New York. “This is, like totally, has been pushed upon me by the prosecution and by the following media and by the Netflix show, but I’m trying to move away from that definitely.”

She said she has minted 10 NFTs which will grant holders access to speak to her on the phone while there are exactly three “ultra platinum” NFTs that will grant the opportunity to meet Sorokin in person.

Anna Sorokin and the Blockchain Empowerment

Anna Sorokin wants to be remembered for something other than her past mistakes which have landed her in ICE detention. 

While she claims that she has no apologies to make, she believes that her actions were wrong and that she will make a conscious attempt to pursue more ethical events in the future. Blockchain is notably aiding her ambitions as the technology can easily be accessed by anyone, irrespective of their criminal background.

There are no indications whether the NFT collection is open to the public at this time nor was the chain in which she chose to mint it shared. However, Anna now joins the likes of Melania Trump and brands like Lacoste with NFT collections to their names.
