Justin Sun Responds to Claims About Losing his Diplomatic Status

Regardless of this week’s earlier allegations from the local media claiming otherwise, Justin Sun, the creator of the Tron blockchain, insists he is still a diplomat for Grenada.

As reported by The Block, Justin Sun said that the claims are “not true,” he shared a screenshot dated Friday demonstrating the fact that he maintains an active profile as the representative for Grenada on the World Trade Organization (WTO)’s registration page.

Justin Sun also posted a screenshot of the WTO’s “internal terminal” to support his claim, which identifies him as Grenada’s ambassador and permanent representative to the WTO.

It is important to keep note of the information that the Grenada Broadcasting Network, which is jointly controlled by the Caribbean Communications Network and the government, stated earlier this week that Sun had lost his position as ambassador shortly after the June 2022 elections, when the National Democratic Congress defeated the New National Party, which had appointed Sun to the post. 

According to GBN, during the “early months” of the now nine-month-old government, all diplomats were recalled.

Notably, Grenada’s government has chosen Sun as its representative to the WTO in December 2021. After being hired, he has referred to himself on social media as “His Excellency.” On both his verified personal Twitter account and his diplomatic Twitter account, he still uses the abbreviation “H.E.”

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a complaint against Justin Sun for “orchestration of the unregistered offer and sale, manipulative trading, and unlawful touting of crypto asset securities.” 

The American watchdog announced that it sought to “permanently prohibit” Sun from serving in any officer or director capacities with businesses that deal in cryptocurrency.

Furthermore, the Chinese crypto entrepreneur has also indicated interest in acquiring Credit Suisse, a Swiss financial bank. He had earlier planned to invest $1 billion in purchasing the Digital Currency Group’s assets.
