America’s professional baseball organization Major League Baseball (MLB) has published a job opening on LinkedIn, the online business and employment service provider.

Precisely, MLB is searching for a Licensing Manager who will be in charge of the MLB Digital Games, Non-fungible token (NFT), and Metaverse licensing team. The Licensing Manager will be under the supervision of the Director of the team.

The professional sports team has opened this position to accelerate its business model expansion to include NFTs, Metaverse, wearable technology, Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR). The prospective Licensing Manager must be someone who has much expertise and is vast in Web3.0-related innovations and the metaverse.

Speaking of the person who will eventually hold the position, the advert placed for the vacancy read, “This person will have a direct hand in developing our NFT, Metaverse, wearable technology, and AR/VR strategy by sourcing best-in-class partners and providing input to the overall product direction by engaging with marketplaces, tools, and platforms in the ecosystem.”

In addition, the Licensing officer will be expected to develop long-term scalable design incentives which will pull in high-impact investors to the profit corporate subsidiary of MLB, MLB Players, Inc. The hired professional responsibilities will cut across both strategic and managerial roles.

MLB Licensing Manager to Foster Web3.0 Relationships

As part of the managerial role, the hired professional will develop relationships with MLBPA’s business partners, especially One Team Partners. Such relationships are aimed at improving business development, portfolio analysis, and license negotiations related to digital gaming (both console and mobile).

Notably, a large portion of the Licensing Manager’s responsibilities will entail fostering relationships and partnerships across the Web3.0 ecosystem. The Licensing Manager will “Identify partnerships with marketplaces, tools, and platforms to create best-in-class product experience for baseball fans to access and engage with our expanding digital collections.”

In a bid to expand its digital ecosystem, MLB has bagged several partnerships including working with blockchain-based fantasy game developer Sorare to build fantasy baseball games.

Their exclusive partnership provided MLB fans with the opportunity to design and mint the players of their choice. With this, they could enter the tournament and get rewarded based on the real-life performance of their chosen players.
